The Swedish Cope Advantage
Swedish Cope logs look great...
Swedish Cope logs look great and they offer real advantages in construction.

Simply Beautiful
Most of the logs we sell are milled in the Swedish Cope profile. This simple, traditional look highlights the natural curvature of the logs, and appeals to anyone who loves the ideal of the American log cabin.

Easy to Build
Not only do Swedish Cope logs look great, they offer many real advantages in construction. They are simple to build with and don't require any strict method of construction. You have the freedom to choose through-bolts or screws to stack the logs. This flexibility in construction saves you time, money and peace of mind.

Built-in Strength and Stability
The Swedish Cope profile creates a full weight-bearing arc in each log, running the entire length and exactly matching the arc of the log below. This produces weight-bearing contact the entire length of the log, not just at the ends. And that means greater strength and stability.

Weather Tight
We think that homes built with logs milled in the Swedish Cope profile are more weather tight than other log home construction methods. The overlapping design prevents moisture from entering at the seam since the moisture would have to travel uphill to get inside. A closed-cell foam gasket with a high-tack acrylic adhesive on one side is placed on the top of each log. As the logs are stacked, the foam gasket is compressed between each log and that creates an extremely tight seal. After stacking, you have the choice of either chinking or caulking at the seam. This simple, efficient design keeps heat in during the winter and out in the summer.
