Who would've known that log home country would offer so many diverse and delectable dining decisions. Here are a few places we'd love to take you for a bite if you drop by the log yard for a tour.
Smokehouse
The Sugarfactory Smokehouse is run by our buddy, Larry Finn. We think he serves up the finest ribs and other slow-smoked meats and fixings this side of Memphis. But don't take our word for it. Larry's got a letter on the wall signed by the top banana at Outback Steakhousehe wandered in while on a hunting triptestifying to as much. And don't get us started on the scones. Please. We'll never make it back to the office after lunch.
Gringos
If the Smokehouse is too tame for you, we'll heat things up at Gringos Mexican restaurant in nearby Rexburg. Ask the gals to bring out all three types of salsas. Tell 'em you are a friend of Rick's.
BJ's Bayou.
You read it right. Real Cajun cuisinecrawdads, hush puppies, rice and red beanssmack in the middle of the land of mashed potatoes, gravy and, well, more mashed potatoes. Check out this "spicy joint" in nearby Roberts.
Rick's Backyard.
If you hem and haw long enough, Rick will eventually invite you over to his log home on the Snake River (Get it? Snake River Log Homes?) for a western barbecue complete with T-bone steaks, fresh corn on the cob, and raspberries right from his wife Kay's garden for dessert. Of course, you have to out-elbow Rick's kids and dogs and cats, but there's usually plenty to go around.
